Vision and mission

AGIC will be the catalyst for the delivery and operation of more sustainable infrastructure in Australia.

To accomplish this, AGIC will:

  • benchmark, advance and promote the concepts and knowledge of sustainability throughout the design, construction and life cycle of infrastructure solutions, and

  • recognise and reward organisations which deliver world leading sustainable solutions in the design, construction and operation of our national infrastructure.

The principal means AGIC will achieve this will be through the development and operation of an industry-compiled rating award scheme.

Organisation

AGIC is a company limited by guarantee and formed by a group of industry professionals from engineering, environmental, planning, legal, financial and construction backgrounds working in both private and public organizations related to infrastructure.

Note from the Chairman

This is an exciting time. Following a year when sustainability really entered the public consciousness, AGIC is almost ready to open its doors. It has been a very eventful six months. An Interim Steering Group and various working groups with participants from Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria have been working hard, mostly in their own time and often well into the night. These groups have undertaken research, developed the administrative mechanisms, and compiled excellent first steps for achieving AGIC’s aims and objectives – many thanks to you all! There’s lots more to do, let’s keep the energy and enthusiasm flowing.

Best regards,

David A Hood
