Tony Missikos - Director, Strategic Relationships - Office of the Commissioner Main Roads WA. “Main Roads WA (MRWA) views the AGIC, with its innovation focus, as providing us an important framework for consideration within our forward 2K12 Strategy.......to move the organisations culture from a “business-as-usual” approach to a commitment to go “beyond best practice” in highway delivery and maintenance towards “achieving excellence”. This focus has already resulted in a number of projects, especially our recent major freeway extension being completed ahead of schedule and below budget with on-going recognition of its sustainability initiatives. MRWA, as a recent member of AGIC looks forward to AGIC’s leadership furthering this “innovative framework” with its new tools and sustainability initiatives, providing a platform for the efficiency and productivity gains we all seek. I look forward to enhancing our already strong relationship further towards our mutual goals. Chris White - Chief Executive Officer - Civil Contractor’s Association “The AGIC scheme is regarded by CCF as an excellent means to advance the development of governance systems that stimulate continuous improvement programs and innovation on an ongoing basis in all areas of infrastructure construction activity. CCF views the scheme as a vehicle for future productivity improvement” Jim Barrett - Executive Director - Australian Constructors Association “The Australian Constructors Association (ACA) represents the nation’s major contracting companies who are responsible for the delivery of a substantial proportion of the nation’s economic and social infrastructure. The Australian Green Infrastructure Council is a coalition of private and public sector industry professionals that has focused its energies on the development of a sustainability rating tool for major infrastructure projects. ACA member companies have supported this important initiative and have lent practical support in its development. AGIC has reached a stage of development where it will need additional support to continue its important program. It has succeeded because it has garnered wide support for its work. ACA believes that AGIC can deliver significant benefits to our clients – public and private sector – the contracting industry and the wider community and we encourage Government support for this initiative. ACA is pleased to support the Australian Green Infrastructure Council.” The Hon. Tom Roper - President - ASBEC The Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council (ASBEC) strongly supports the work of the Australian Green Infrastructure Council. Both public and private infrastructure programmes and projects require more attention to issues of sustainability – social, economic and environmental. Projects need to clearly address sustainability outcomes. One major gap is the lack of an effective and usable infrastructure sustainability rating scheme and tool. Rating schemes such as NABERS and Green Star have, and are, improving performance at the building and the neighbourhood level. AGIC’s research would broaden this trend by including infrastructure. Not the least challenge will be to ensure that our current and future infrastructure takes adequate account of the need to adapt to our changing climate. ASBEC looks forward to ongoing cooperation with AGIC.
Chris Lock – Chief Executive Officer - TIDC “TIDC is an original member of AGIC and as such is committed to moving towards sustainability and achieving its corporate vision of ‘Working in partnership to deliver innovative and sustainable transport solutions that make NSW a great place to live and work’. As part of this move towards sustainability, TIDC is committed to the advancement and promotion of tools and knowledge that improve sustainability throughout the design, construction and life cycle of infrastructure projects. The Australian Green Infrastructure Council’s work in establishing the world’s first full Sustainability Rating Scheme for Infrastructure is important, not only in helping TIDC reach its own sustainability targets, but in enhancing sustainability performance outcomes across the industry.”
